In the famous American play, “The Glass Menagerie” by Tennessee Williams, Amanda Wingfield explains that she loved Tom more than she liked him. In her mind, she loved him too much to ever stop loving him. And this love brought tragedy down upon her. Right from the start, Amanda couldn’t leave Tom alone.
She was emotionally attached to him and she found it hard to make a choice about whether or not to give him up. Her obsession with Tom made all other relationships in her life difficult and fleeting. And, when she became dissatisfied with Tom, the relationships she had tried to keep together began to fall apart.
